This is going to be a little gross.
My little budgie was on my shoulder this weekend and when I turned my head toward him a little bit he sneeze in my eye... ewwww.....
He's not acting ill at all and has not been sneezing sense. But many he nailed my eye ball. I honestly didn't think of rinsing out my eye either. It was early.
Should I be concerned for my eyeball? (I'm watching little birdy and no change in poop, eating, sleeping, playing... so I'm thinking he's fine).
Theoritically could one catch something if the bird was sick?
Curious...
Thanks!

Re: Sneeze Question
Mon, November 2, 2009 - 6:25 PMWell, theoretically you could get something but the odds of contracting something through your eye are astronomical. As for the sneeze....my macaw has allergies, has had since I got him 12 years ago. My vet says as long as it's not green and his eat/sleep/poop habits haven't changed, then mix a little children's benedryl in with his water and he'll be fine -

Re: Sneeze Question
Tue, November 3, 2009 - 6:40 PMI would skip the Benadryl. Birds sneeze all the time. He probably had a feather or some dander in there. If I had a dollar for every time a bird has sneezed in my face...
Really, unless he's sneezing a LOT, it's no biggie at all.
BTW, budgie sneezes are adorable. So tiny! -

Re: Sneeze Question
Wed, November 4, 2009 - 8:02 AMI concurr with Ambird. Unless he's sneezing for a long time continually (say more than a week) then I'd take him to the vet - some birds are more prone to nasal infections and often the only warning we as owners get is a little sniffle or some discharge....I swear I wish they could tell us..."Hey mom, I gonna snduheeze if your eye, dokay? Wah-choo!!!" -

Wed, November 4, 2009 - 4:33 PMMine usually pops me in the head with her beak when she sneezes. Like she doesn't know it's coming so she can move one inch over? -
